Keys to staying healthy during high school soccer

Published on December 6, 2018

When you’re busy with school and playing soccer every day, it can be easy to let your health slip away.

Along with school work, taking care of your body should be on top of your priority list.

This goes for making sure you get enough sleep, eating healthy (and enough) throughout the day, taking care of injuries, and resting when needed.

I’ll be honest, when I was in high school, I was the unhealthiest I had ever been in my life.

I went to McDonalds or Wendy’s at least 3-4 times per week for lunch with my friends…

After school, I would go to my teammate’s house before practice and most of the time our snacks consisted of Cosmic Brownies, chips, and Capri Sun.

I didn’t feel or look good during my high school years because I was eating like crap and not taking my health seriously!

So please, learn from my mistakes and eat foods that are going to FUEL your day!

In addition to diet, sleep is absolutely critical!

We could go down a rabbit hole talking about the importance of sleep…

Just realize that the busier, more stressed, and active you are, the more sleep you need to recover on a daily basis.

Sleep is going to help you focus in school and be ready to perform during practices and games in the afternoon.

Without your health, you have nothing, so take it seriously and make it a priority in your life!
